Tragic Incident on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway: Motorcyclist Swept Away by Flood

A devastating incident occurred on May 20, 2025, along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Alakuko, Lagos, when a 60-year-old motorcyclist, Wasiu Babatunde Adeniran, was swept away by floodwaters during a heavy downpour around 4 pm. Adeniran lost control of his motorcycle, which was also carried away by the raging flood.

Immediate search efforts led to the recovery of Adeniran's motorcycle downstream around 6 pm the same day. However, his body remained missing until the next morning. 

Tragically, his body was discovered at 9 am on May 21, 2025, at the Obasanjo River in Ota, Ogun State, several kilometers from the incident site.

According to The Lagos State Police Command, led by Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin, has confirmed the incident and is conducting a thorough investigation. Police detectives visited the scenes, documented evidence, and took photographs of the deceased. The corpse has been deposited at a public morgue.

The police command extended its condolences to Adeniran's bereaved family and assured the public of a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
