Herdsmen kill woman in Ogun, family cries for justice

Suspected herdsmen have hacked a woman, Mrs Titilayo Awosanya, to death.

Titilayo  Awosanya, the mother of Awosanya Olushoga Tunde was said to have been gruesomely murdered on Monday 15th September, 2025 at Abule Oloni area of Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.

Our correspondent gathered that Late Mrs Awosanya was hacked to death in the middle of the night while asleep.

Her death which was connected with the recent attack on her son, Awosanya Olushoga Tunde, who was dislodged  from Yelewata in Benue State and the subsequent threat from herdsmen to deal with him and his household wherever they may be hiding in the Country.

It was gathered that just a few weeks ago, the suspected herders invaded the home of Awosanya Olushoga Tunde in Lagos  State, beating the occupiers of the house, with some of them suffering from cutlass deep cut.

Speaking to Our Correspondent, a resident of the house Tunde Olaniyi who spoke with eyes filled with tears said those after Olushoga Tunde Awosanya's life had continued to threaten the entire household, not minding the age of the occupiers of the house.

He lamented that when Awosanya Olushoga Tunde left Benue due to violent attacks on him and his immediate family, it's now a thing of concern now also as these herders have also invaded Lagos, looking for Awosanya Olushoga Tunde prey.

"Titilayo Awosanya, mother of, Tunde was killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen, who had continued to terrorise the Country, most especially, Benue, Jos and others.

"It's unfortunate that these derelicts have moved to all parts of the Country. You will see them on top of bikes because they want to get their prey. They are in every nook of the Country now.

He said, “Yes, it is true. Olushoga Tunde's mother was killed by Fulani herdsmen around Abule Oloni, It happened around 2 o’clock, according to the report.”

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Odutola, confirmed the incident.

Odutola said the woman was the mother of one Awosanya Olushoga Tunde, and she was killed by herdsmen while sleeping in Ogun State.

The PPRO said police  have deposited her corpse at the general hospital in Abeokuta .
