Many residents of Imeko Afon Local Government Area (LGA) have been displaced following a windstorm that destroyed homes in the community on May 10, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has revealed.
This was disclosed following an assessment conducted by a team from the NEMA Ibadan Operations Office (IBOO), led by the head of the operations office, Olanrewaju Kadiri.
Kadiri and his team visited the areas affected by the windstorm to evaluate the extent of damage and facilitate immediate relief assistance from the Federal Government.
Residential houses, churches, electric poles, a town hall, and a car were among the damaged properties.
Many residents who were affected by the disaster are now staying with relatives and friends within the communities.
The Secretary to Imeko Afon Local Government, Abimbola Nafiu, described it as an unfortunate incident and appealed for humanitarian aid.
