Tragedy struck in Bauchi State's Toro Local Government Area on Saturday when a wedding celebration turned into a mourning occasion. SP Mustapha Garba Gumau, a Senior Police Officer and Groom-to-be, lost his life in a fatal car accident along with two friends, Shuaibu Umar and Sulaiman Musa, just moments before his wedding ceremony.
The accident occurred around 9:00 am at Bargan Tsamiya village while the Groom and his friends were traveling from Gumau to Magaman-Gumau for the 10:00 am wedding Fatiha. According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle veered off the road and crashed, resulting in the instant deaths of the three men. Several others in the vehicle sustained injuries of varying degrees.
The Communities of Gumau and Magaman-Gumau are plunged into mourning following the sudden loss. The Bauchi Police Command's Public Relations officer, CSP Mohammed Ahmed Wakil, later confirmed the incident, describing it as devastating. The Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Sani-Omolori, has extended condolences to the families of the deceased, praying for divine strength to bear the loss.
