Man Accused of Selling Fake Condoms in Lagos


A 51-year-old man, Walter Okafor, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates' Court in Lagos for allegedly selling fake Kiss Condoms. Okafor pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of conspiracy and forgery.

According to the Police Prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ikhayere, Okafor and others at large were involved in the unlawful duplication and forgery of Kiss Condom packs without the knowledge or consent of TK2 International Nigeria Limited, the company that owns the brand. The alleged offense took place in December 2023 at the Idumota area of Lagos State.

The prosecution stated that the act contravenes Sections 363 and 412 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015, which address offenses related to forgery and conspiracy. If convicted, Okafor could face up to three years' imprisonment.

Magistrate Lafeef A. Owolabi granted Okafor bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must be reliable and provide verifiable means of identification.

The case has been adjourned until July 1, 2025, for further mention.
