In a shocking turn of events, a British man, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, 40, has been identified as the sole survivor of the Air India flight that crashed shortly after takeoff in Ahmedabad, India, killing 241 people. Ramesh, who was seated in seat 11A, miraculously escaped the devastating crash by jumping out through the emergency exit just seconds before the plane hit the ground.
According to Ramesh, the aircraft crashed almost immediately after takeoff, with a loud noise occurring just 30 seconds after liftoff. "It all happened so quickly," he told the Hindustan Times from his hospital bed in Ahmedabad's civil hospital.
Ramesh, who has lived in the UK for 20 years, was returning home after visiting family in India. His brother, Nayan Kumar Ramesh, 27, expressed shock and devastation at the news, saying, "We were just shocked as soon as we heard it... He said, 'I have no idea how I exited the plane'."
