The Kano State Police Command has successfully rescued a 19-year-old man, Ibrahim Abubakar from Adamawa State, who attempted to commit suicide by climbing an advertisement billboard at Ado Bayero Bridge on June 23, 2025. Abubakar threatened to jump down unless he met with popular TikToker Abdul BK.
Upon receiving the report, a team of Policemen swiftly arrived at the scene and initiated a rescue operation in collaboration with the Fire Service Team. Through dialogue and negotiations, Abdul BK was brought to the scene, and Abubakar was satisfied with the gesture, allowing him to be rescued unhurt. However, due to spending several hours without food, Abubakar felt weak and was rushed to the Police Hospital in Bompai for medical attention.
Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the professionalism and quick response of the combined team of Security Officers who averted the potential tragedy. He has ordered a detailed investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the attempted suicide.
The Police Commandar warned the public against attempting suicide, emphasizing that it is a criminal offense punishable under the law. They encouraged individuals struggling with emotional difficulties and related issues to seek help from relevant authorities and professionals.
