Lagos: The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Season of Abundance Parish, Mainland, Lagos State, has reported two women Mrs. Funmilayo Eniola and a church member, Ms. Adejoke Afolorunsho to the police over alleged homosexual practices within the church premises.
Our correspondent, who visited the scene, learned that Mrs. Funmilayo Eniola’s husband, Mr. Olalekan Olufemi, is a worker at the RCCG Season of Abundance Parish, located on the Lagos Mainland.
According to the clergyman, Pastor Jeremiah Ezekiel, who reported the matter to the police, both Mrs. Funmilayo Eniola and Ms. Adejoke Afolorunsho were caught in a room engaging in the act. He explained that the church’s CCTV camera alerted him while he was in his office.
“On this fateful day, it was a praise night-vigil programme that had yet to begin. The incident occurred around 11pm I was in my office reading the Bible when I saw what was happening on the CCTV camera connected to my office laptop.
“I immediately rushed to the room and found it was locked from inside. Using the spare key, I opened it from the outside and saw the two ladies, Mrs. Funmilayo Eniola and Ms. Adejoke Afolorunsho, who were both members of our church.
“I quickly used my phone to capture them further for additional video evidence, which the church later presented to the police,” Pastor Jeremiah narrated.
When asked about the next course of action, he noted that the church set up a disciplinary committee, which questioned the husband, who is a church staff member, as well as the two women. Mrs. Funmilayo Eniola, however, did not honour the invitation. He said the committee’s report was included in the documents presented to the police for investigation.
When our correspondent visited the home of Mr. Olalekan Olufemi, it was learned that Mrs. Funmilayo Eniola had already left the country, according to an eyewitness and family friend, Mr. Femi Akola.
“She was not in the house, and a few weeks later I discovered that the husband had been suspended from the church over the matter. His employment was later terminated, while Ms. Adejoke Afolorunsho was arrested by the police and arraigned following investigations,” Mr. Femi revealed.
Our correspondent, who visited the police command, learned that the case has been assigned to a court of law, while Mrs. Funmilayo Eniola has been placed on a watch list. All efforts to reach her husband proved abortive as of the time of filing this report.
