Speeding Bus Crashes in Lagos, Two Seriously Injured

By Adenike Olowe

A commercial bus crash in Lagos has left a woman and a young girl with serious injuries. The accident occurred on Tuesday near Iyana-Oworo, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

Preliminary investigations suggest the crash was caused by brake failure on the commercial bus, which was reportedly overloaded and speeding. The bus crashed into a private vehicle ahead of it, resulting in extensive damage.

The two injured passengers, a woman with fractured legs and a young girl with multiple injuries, were quickly evacuated and handed over to the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS). They were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

LASTMA's General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed concern over reckless driving and non-compliance with traffic regulations. He emphasized the importance of adhering to speed limits and installing speed-limiting devices in commercial vehicles.

Bakare-Oki wished the injured victims a speedy recovery and reiterated LASTMA's commitment to road safety.
