A contingent of Polaris Bank of Nigeria Ltd has paid a courtesy call on the Executive Chairman of Yewa South local government, Hon Abraham Babatunde Ogunsola at the local government secretariat in Ilaro.
It was a convergence of the two most invaluable players in grassroots development. They had a round table talk and charted the part forward for the rapid turn around of the dwindling fortune of the poor and vulnerable at the grassroots level.
The Polaris Bank's team lead, Mrs. Yetunde Okeleye, disclosed that the visit to the local government was to bring two of the most essential stakeholders in the grassroots development affairs, bank and government, together at a round table to identify common interests that will egender allround growth of the grassroots.
She said that "Polaris Bank is ready to partner with the local government by providing it the financial backing it needs" to fulfill its statutory obligations to its people at the grassroots level.
Reacting, Hon Ogunsola gave assurance to the bank that his administration is ready to partner with them to revamp the hailing economy of the local government area.
He said "commerce, agriculture, health, infrastructure, security, education and many other sectors of the local government's economy are on life support at the moment and we need the support of all the stakeholders, particularly the financial institutions, to turn it around.
While it is the bank's business, as usual, to offer us a financial backing, we will also like to remind you your civic duties to this local government area, in terms of Corporate Social Responsibilities, and deliver accordingly.
Public Private Partnership is something we very much have in the offing. Very soon we will knock on your door and all doors. However, before that, you are free to approach us for any mutually beneficial initiative that you know will bring financial prosperity to the local government."
Very important personalities from both parties, such as The Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Mr Wole Fateru, Branch Manager, Polaris Bank Ilaro, Bukola Adetunji, Branch Manager, Polaris Bank Abeokuta, Mr Ojo Emmanuel and Polaris Bank Ilaro's Account officer, Mr Funso Areola were present at the event.
